Welcome to AOF Language School

AOF Language School is for all foreigners who need to learn Danish. You will learn to talk, read and write Danish. We offer three different language courses, each of which is divided into 6 levels. Each course is based on the background and qualifications of the students.

Enrolment:
In most cases, you must enrol through your local job centre. If you are not sure whether you are entitled to a Danish Language course, please contact us.
Before you can start, you will need an interview with a guidance teacher. Please contact Hanne Frost, tel. 98 28 28 98. She will arrange a placement test for you.

Fee:
In general, the tuition is free for all foreigners with a Danish Personal Registration Number (cpr number). Citizens without a cpr-number must pay their own fees. Please contact us for further information.

When:
Most tuition takes place in daytime from 8.15 to 13.45.
For students who are unable to participate during daytime the school offers tuition outside normal working hours, typically from 17.00 to 21.35.
Please contact us for further information.

How:
The tuition will vary from classroom teaching, group work, project work and individual work with assistance from the teacher.
Day trips, joint events, film, television, newspapers and music are also part of the teaching of AOF.
It is important that you participate in an active way. You must also find the time to do the necessary homework as this is important to keep up with your class.

Atmosphere:
We are many different nationalities and cultures at AOF. It is very important that we all treat each other with respect and tolerance. We want each student to feel comfortable, safe and at ease at AOF. A friendly atmosphere is also important in order to learn well.

In the breaks the students meet in common areas. Here you can also enjoy free coffee and tea.
Once a week we have a joint meeting in the morning. We sing together and exchange information.

House Rules:
Smoking is only allowed outdoors.
Alcohol and drugs are not allowed.
If you are sick or otherwise unable to come to school, you must phone the school secretary in the morning.
If you are unsure about the rules for absences ask your social worker or the school supervisor.

Job Training:
We have contact to more than 80 companies in Northern Jutland.

Exams:
We recommend that you finish your Danish course with a state-controlled exam.
